Our story
About Big Mike's Moving Companies Queens
We started Big Mike's Moving Companies Queens because we kept hearing the same story: movers who quoted one price and charged another, COIs that got rejected on move day, crews that didn't know how Queens buildings work.

We built this company around the problems Queens renters actually face: walk-ups, elevator reservations, building paperwork and tight streets. Every move starts with a written estimate.
Written estimates, always
Every move starts with a written estimate, so you know the plan and the scope before moving day.
Building logistics planned ahead
We ask about elevator reservations, loading zones and building rules when we plan your move.
Queens crews, Queens knowledge
Our movers know Flushing elevator windows, Ridgewood street widths, and Forest Hills co-op board requirements because they work Queens every day.

Moving terms for Queens
A plain-language guide to services, equipment and materials you may discuss when planning a move. The written estimate confirms your own job's scope.
- Moving Company
- A moving company is a business that helps transport belongings from one address to another. Its agreed services may include packing, loading, driving and unloading.
- Local Move
- A local move covers a relatively short distance, often within the same city or metro area. Across Queens this can mean a short drive between a walk-up, a co-op or a house, with timing depending on the load and access.
- Long-Distance Move
- A long-distance move carries belongings over a substantial distance, within one state or between states. The route, load and agreed pickup and delivery schedule shape how it is planned.
- Commercial Moving
- Commercial moving relocates a shop, office or other workplace, including desks, shelving, files and equipment. Access and scheduling are planned around the needs of the business.
- Piano Moving
- Piano moving is the handling and transport of upright or grand pianos, whose weight and delicate parts call for careful preparation. The equipment and crew depend on the instrument and the route through the building.
- Warehouse Storage
- Warehouse storage keeps belongings in a warehouse managed by a mover or a separate storage provider. It can bridge a gap between a move-out date and a move-in date, with access arranged through the provider.
- Packing Services
- Packing services cover wrapping, boxing and labeling the items included in the agreed job. Room labels help identify where boxes belong at the new address.
- Moving Box
- A moving box is a sturdy cardboard carton made in set sizes so books, kitchenware and clothes can be packed and stacked. Small boxes suit heavy items, large ones suit light bulky items.
- Packing Tape
- Packing tape is the wide adhesive tape used to seal the flaps and seams of a moving box. It works with a suitable carton and an appropriate load to help keep the box closed.
- Bubble Wrap
- Bubble wrap is plastic sheeting filled with small air pockets that cushion items against bumps. It can be used around glassware and picture frames along with suitable boxes and other padding.
- Hand Truck
- A hand truck is a two-wheeled cart with a small loading ledge that tilts back to roll a load. The load must suit the equipment, and stairs or bulky items may need extra help.
